The deadline

Is your business required to issue e-invoices?

Malaysia's LHDN (IRBM) e-invoicing mandate is being rolled out in phases by annual turnover. Every e-invoice must be validated through the MyInvois system before it counts. Here's where each phase stands.

Annual turnoverMandatory fromStatus
Above RM100 million1 August 2024In force
RM25m – RM100m1 January 2025In force
RM5m – RM25m1 July 2025In force
RM1m – RM5m1 January 2026In force · interim relaxation period until 31 December 2027
Under RM1 millionGenerally exempt
Failure to issue an e-Invoice in accordance with LHDN requirements may result in a fine of RM200 to RM20,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both, for each non-compliance. Dates, thresholds and applicable requirements may change, so businesses should confirm their current obligations with LHDN.

The basics

What is e-invoicing software?

E-invoicing software creates each invoice digitally and submits it to Malaysia's LHDN MyInvois platform for validation. Once validated, the e-invoice gets a unique identifier and a QR code and becomes a legally valid tax document — a step a normal PDF or paper invoice can't do on its own.

Good e-invoicing software in Malaysia handles the whole lifecycle: standard, consolidated and self-billed e-invoices, credit and debit notes, cancellations, and near-real-time submission to MyInvois by portal or API. Botspot delivers this on Odoo, so your e-invoice software isn't a separate tool — it's part of the system you already run sales and accounting on.

Everything you need to issue, validate and manage e-invoices in Malaysia — in one place, kept up to date as LHDN's rules evolve.

01

Standard e-invoices

Create and submit standard e-invoices to MyInvois, get them validated in near real time, and issue the QR-coded result to your customer.

02

Consolidated e-invoices

Batch B2C sales into consolidated e-invoices where allowed, so high-volume retail and walk-in transactions stay compliant without extra work.

03

Self-billed e-invoices

Handle self-billed e-invoices for foreign suppliers, agents, commissions and other cases LHDN requires you to issue on their behalf.

04

Validation, UIN & QR

Each invoice is validated by MyInvois and returns a unique identifier and QR code — automatically stored against the record.

05

Credit, debit & cancellation

Issue credit and debit notes and cancel e-invoices within the allowed window, with the adjustments flowing straight into your accounts.

06

MyInvois API & Peppol

Connect to MyInvois by API for automated, high-volume submission, and exchange e-invoices with trading partners through the Malaysia Peppol network using a suitable accredited Peppol service provider.

07

Bulk & automated submission

Submit invoices in bulk and automate recurring billing, so nothing is re-keyed and nothing misses the MyInvois deadline.

08

Dashboard & auto-updates

Track validated, pending and rejected e-invoices at a glance — and stay current as LHDN updates fields and rules, without patching it yourself.

Because it's Odoo, e-invoicing connects natively to integrated Sales, Purchase, Inventory and Accounting — no third-party connector to maintain.

The Botspot difference

E-invoicing that lives in your business system

Most e-invoicing software in Malaysia is a bolt-on: you still key sales into one place, then re-enter them into a MyInvois tool. That's double work and double the errors. Botspot builds e-invoicing into Odoo, so a validated e-invoice is generated from the same sales order and accounting entry you already created — no re-keying, no reconciliation headaches.

Already on another system? We can also connect MyInvois e-invoicing to your existing accounting or ERP, so you keep your setup and still get compliant. Either way, an Official Odoo Partner owns the outcome end to end.

Show me how it fits my setup

From sale to validated e-invoice

  1. You confirm a sales order or record a sale — as you do today.
  2. Odoo drafts the e-invoice with the correct LHDN fields and tax codes.
  3. It's submitted to MyInvois and validated in near real time.
  4. The UIN and QR code come back and attach to the invoice.
  5. Your customer gets a compliant e-invoice; your accounts update automatically.

Questions

E-invoicing software Malaysia FAQs

What is e-invoicing software in Malaysia?
E-invoicing software in Malaysia creates invoices digitally and submits them to LHDN's MyInvois platform for validation. Once validated, each one receives a unique identifier number (UIN) and a QR code and becomes a legally valid tax document. Good software handles standard, consolidated and self-billed e-invoices, credit and debit notes, cancellations and MyInvois submission — ideally from inside the system you already use for sales and accounting.
Is e-invoicing mandatory, and who has to comply?
Yes. Malaysia's LHDN (IRBM) e-invoicing mandate is phased by annual turnover: above RM100m from Aug 2024, RM25m–RM100m from Jan 2025, RM5m–RM25m from Jul 2025, and RM1m–RM5m from Jan 2026 (with an interim relaxation period until 31 December 2027). Taxpayers with annual turnover or revenue below RM1 million are generally exempt, subject to LHDN's applicable conditions. These dates may change — confirm your obligation with LHDN or with us before relying on them.
What is MyInvois?
MyInvois is LHDN's national e-invoicing platform. Every e-invoice issued in Malaysia must be validated through MyInvois — by the MyInvois portal for lower volumes, or by API for automated, high-volume submission. Only after validation, when the invoice has its UIN and QR code, is it a valid e-invoice. Your e-invoicing software is what talks to MyInvois for you.
Does Odoo work as LHDN e-invoicing software?
Yes. Odoo supports Malaysia's e-invoicing localization and connects to MyInvois, so e-invoices are generated, validated and submitted straight from your Odoo sales and accounting. As an Official Odoo Partner, Botspot configures the tax codes, e-invoice types and MyInvois connection so it validates correctly — and keeps it updated as LHDN's rules change.
Can you connect e-invoicing to our existing accounting or ERP?
Yes. If you're not moving to Odoo, we can connect MyInvois e-invoicing to your existing accounting or ERP so you stay on your current setup and still get compliant. Where it makes sense, we'll also show you the trade-offs of running e-invoicing inside one Odoo system versus a separate bolt-on tool.
What's the difference between standalone e-invoice software and built-in e-invoicing?
A standalone e-invoice tool sits apart from your accounting, so you re-key or import sales into it before submitting to MyInvois — double work and more errors. Built-in e-invoicing, like Odoo, generates the validated e-invoice from the same sales order and accounting entry you already made. Less manual effort, fewer rejections, one audit trail.
Do you support the MyInvois API and the Peppol network?
Yes. For higher volumes we set up automated MyInvois API submission rather than manual portal entry. For Peppol, we connect and exchange e-invoices with your trading partners through the Malaysia Peppol network using a suitable accredited Peppol service provider. Peppol availability and connection methods depend on the accredited provider you select — Botspot is not itself a Peppol-accredited service provider — so we'll confirm the exact setup for your case.
How long does it take to get compliant?
A focused e-invoicing and accounting setup can go live in a matter of weeks, while larger or heavily integrated rollouts take longer. After a free assessment we give you a realistic, phased timeline so you can get compliant without disrupting your billing.
What's the best e-invoicing software in Malaysia?
The best e-invoicing software in Malaysia is the one that's genuinely LHDN MyInvois-compliant, fits how you already invoice, and won't leave you re-keying data. For businesses that want compliance and their operations in one place, Odoo — set up by an Official Odoo Partner like Botspot — gives you e-invoicing built into sales, inventory and accounting rather than another disconnected tool. Book a free demo to compare it against your current setup.
